As you may have seen, Yesterday, the 16th of July 2022, Was the last Scheduled workings of the Class 317 EMUs, one of the successors to the 309s and finally bowing out of service after 39 years of service.
The CEPG decided to make the day as special as possible. With kind permission from Greater Anglia we made posters and flyers to sell on the day, and also collected donations for the group. We made a headboard which you may have seen in pictures already, proudly displayed on the front for 343 from the 10:10 service all the way until the last at 22:12, and we had a raffle which was drawn on the last service, with Ticket Number 7 Winning the prize.
After totalling up all of the takings from the day, we are pleased to announce we raised a total of £818.49! Thank you so much to everyone who has donated, this will help immensely towards 624's cosmetic restoration.
We just want to say another huge thank you to everyone who came along. We only had 3 days to plan, design, and print everything for the event. we are so proud of what we were able to achieve in this time and hearing everyone's positive feedback made our day. It also showed how much interest there really is in EMUs.
Shall we do it all again for the 321s?
-CEPG.
